Appearance:

Bitumen 85/100 is a semi-solid at ambient temperature.

Penetration:

When tested for penetration grade, bitumen 85/100 has a penetration value of 85 to 100 tenths of a millimeter.

Softening Point:

The softening point of bitumen 85/100 is 45 to 52 degrees Celsius under normal conditions.

Other Properties:

  • Bitumen 85/100 is a black or dark brown material.
  • It is a hydrocarbon material that is soluble in carbon disulfide.
  • It has a specific gravity of 1.0 to 1.1.
  • Bitumen 85/100 is a thermoplastic material that softens at high temperatures and hardens at low temperatures.
